Rutting activity of 2.5yo+ Bucks chasing on cameras started on 11/7. On 11/8 there was a 2.5 in 3 at 4:45. 11/9 Chris and Dad sat in 2 Primary Cabin and had a 2.5yo scrape at 40 yards at 3:45pm. On 11/11- Mike harvested a 2.5 yo 8 pt in Secret Meadow Ladder at last light following a doe. 11/12, Chris saw a 2.5yo chasing 2 does 150 yards away in the brassicas at the last 10 minutes of light. There were a few other night time photos of 2.5-3.5yo Bucks in barn field. As of 11/13, doe and buck sightings have slowed down to almost nothing, including does at night in fields. My theory is that the does are tired of being chased when they're in the fields, so they've stopped coming out, then maybe bucks are chasing and breeding them in the thick woods. But why aren't there Bucks traveling from thick area to thick area????? 11/14- there were fresh scrapes in 1 and 2, plus a mature buck on camera. Also, on 11/13 and 11/14 on camera, at night, there were 2 different 3.5yos going to scrap at upper apple tree behind house, I sat there several sits, but nothing. On 11/16 in am, i sat in Primary Cabin and had a 2.5yo go through middle of field at 7:50am, Dad also watched a small buck from house right by garden, so the rut activity continued through 11/16. So starting around 11/7-11/16 was rutting activity, but we didn't have many 3.5yos around, expect a few at night. For 2018, plan to hunt first week in October, plus the last 10 days of bow- the 7th through the 16th.
